Time for Action: Send a Letter to the Director
The Badlands Racetrack is incompatible with the incredible natural setting of the Rosebud River Valley. It would sacrifice the well-being of the wildlife and people who make their home there. The location and the sheer scale of the project should require a provincial environmental impact assessment.
Use the form below to send a letter to the Director of the Regulatory Assurance Section, Alberta Environment and Parks urging her to order a provincial environmental impact assessment for the Badlands Racetrack. The letter will be copied to the Alberta Ministers of Environment and Parks, Municipal Affairs and Transportation; the Opposition Environment Critic, local MP, local MLAs and municipal councillors.
To email the letter below to the Director, enter your first and last name in the spaces provided. Then enter your postal code, using capital letters and a space after the first three digits. Enter your email address. Finally, click “Send Your Letter” and you’re done.
NOTICE:
The response from administration for the Director came on March 4, 2022
“The Director responsible for Environmental Assessment has decided that an Environmental Impact Assessment report under Alberta’s Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act is not required for this project. The Director considered all comments received in making this decision.”
This response, with no reasons, to over 800 submissions is unacceptable. Ordering an Environmental Impact Assessment is now at the discretion of the Minister of Environment and Parks.
